A fter 12 years, 240,000 miles, and an increasing number of trips to the parts store and my local mechanic, the time had Rnally come - I had to buy a new car. While I was excited about gaining some 21st-century luxuries, I knew I'd miss one thing - the gorgeous sound of my aftermarket stereo system. Upgrading the new stereo seemed like a no-brainer, but I ended up being reluctant for a couple of common reasons. First, I picked a car (a '14 Ford Focus) that requires a pricey installation package to replace the factory stereo. And second, I really came to appreciate some of the factory features that I'd lose with a new stereo. So I lived with inferior sound. After a couple of years, though, I'd finally had enough. So I performed a series of upgrades that we'd recommend to anyone "stuck" with a factory stereo, for whatever reason.
